Before You Visit
We Welcome You!

before-you-visit.jpgBlessings to you for viewing the web site. We will be excited and honored to have you as our special guest at our next worship service at the RiverOak church campus.  Our service times are Sundays at 10am for Sunday School/Bible Study in small groups, 11am for the Worship Celebration, and Wednesday night s at 7.   Each service is unique and supernatural. The gifts are in operation, the music is relevant to all ages and the preached Word will lift you.

The Sunday morning Bible Study features Spirit-filled informed and knowledgeable facilitators leading their small group classes in a current presentation of the scriptures and how they direct and guide every area of our lives with the peace of God.

The Sunday morning worship service is a celebration of the grace and presence of Almighty God.  With powerful and relevant music, singing and ministry of the Word our lives are positively impacted by the Word and Spirit of God with each service being unique and interesting.

Our Wednesday night “Family Night”, there is ministry for the entire family.  Adults not in ministry-leadership on Wednesday night are with our senior pastor in a preaching or Bible study format. The adult interactive Bible study with our senior pastor takes place in the beautiful Fireside Room (Danville’s largest dining room). Dinner or refreshments are available in the student café, and can be enjoyed during the study. This is an interesting and informative time to learn from one another as well as interact with our senior pastor.  Following the presentation of the gospel, intercessory prayer is offered using a prayer bulletin of the prayer needs called into the church.  Teens (EDGE) enjoy music and Word in the adjoining student center and our children (HIZ HIDZ) are having their weekly worship event in one of their children’s centers!!!  Wednesday is happening!!!

What do I wear?
No matter what your personal style, you’ll be comfortable at RiverOak Church of God. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, there will be others dressed much like you no matter when you visit. Sure, Sunday mornings are a time when many prefer to dress up a bit, but even if jeans are more your style, you’ll be right at home and warmly welcomed with us. Naturally, Wednesday evenings are more casual than Sunday morning, but dress up for these if you prefer.

Preschoolers and children learn while they play. We encourage hands on play so that children are learning through all their senses. Painting and other “messy” activities are also encouraged, so use your own judgment about how dressed up your child is while at church.

Our Middle and High School students usually dress casually on Wednesday evenings because games and sporting events are often held and sometimes involve getting messy.

Where do my kids go?
We have children’s ministry for newborns through 5th grade on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.   We also have Youth Ministry for 6th through 12th grade on Wednesday Nights.

Children newborn through 3 years old begin in their classrooms, while 4 year olds through 5th grade are taken to the Kidz Church located in the gymnasium.  If you prefer to keep your children in the adult worship service with you until you feel more comfortable, please feel free to do so.   For more information about our children’s ministries, please Click Here.

Can I meet the pastor?
Absolutely!  Pastor Donnie and First Lady Debra Anderson love to meet new people!  Before and after Sunday and Wednesday services they regularly greet our guests.  In fact, they have a special gift waiting just for you at the Welcome Center.  So please go by after service, turn in your guest registration located in the church bulletin, pick up your gift, and meet the pastor and others.  If Pastor and Debra are ministering in the altars, please know you are important to them and they’d love to meet and visit with you, so please call the office (434-793-9648) to schedule a possible meal with the Andersons.

How do I meet other new people?
We believe God has led you to RiverOak Church of God and we will be so excited and honored to meet you.  There are several great ways to meet new people.

First, we encourage those who are new to ROCOG to attend the Bible Study/Sunday School small groups Sunday mornings at 10.  This will give you and your family an opportunity to connect with the church family very quickly.  You will meet new people, and receive information about the church, our vision, our history, our leaders, ministry opportunities, and when our small groups’ social times are.

Secondly, our Wednesday night “Family Night” is a great time to interact with the church family outside the 11am worship celebration, and in a much smaller intimate format.

Finally, be sure to note the names of those sitting with you on the pew each Sunday by noticing each name on the “Welcome to our Church” pew directory.  For more information about the church call the church office at 434-793-9648.
